We got back on the water last weekend chasing muskies/pike. Saturday was pretty dang tough out there with a mixed bag of fishing as we landed a few 3.5 to 4.5 pound bass, a few 2-4 pound walleye, a couple of smaller pike and no musky sightings. Sunday was a much more active day for Esox as we hooked/saw 5 muskies but nothing in the net.

We hit a couple of nice muskies over the weekend and 2 clients hooked/caught their first muskies on Sunday and Monday. We had lots of action but it was difficult to get the followers to eat on the 8. Cooler rainy weather and falling temps should really help kick start the Fall chow down.

Sounds like some pretty active fish. Gotta be awesome gettin clients their first Musky too. What kind of water temps are you dealing with up there? Some of the lake temps near me are still running in the upper 60's. Pretty warm for this time of year. Does look like a cool down on the way, so that should get things moving. With the full moon this weekend, could be some active fish.

We were dealing with 62.5-64 all 3 days in the stretch I was fishing. I am sure that is changing as we speak and will likely drop 3-4 degrees or so by the time Saturday rolls around.
One of the coolest things about seeing guys contact (catching or followers) their first musky is how focused they become right after it happens to them or their partner. The boat gets very quiet and all you hear is the splash of the lures and the rod tips pushing water during each fig-8.

LOL That is pretty cool. Its funny how just seeing one of these fish will snap you to attention in a flash.

Looks like the fall feeding frenzy has begun on my neck of the Allegheny River. This girl from Sunday was well fed.21268

3 clients and 3 first muskies in one day? Can't ask for anything more than that. Great guiding job Red.

Ooops.......my post is misleading. 2 of them (father and son) scored their firsts last April on the same day and Jason bagged his this past Saturday.
I will still accept your congrats anyway, Ivan. ;) Thanks!

Fishing has been spotty the past couple of weeks while chasing multiple species. Some days are good and others have been pretty tough for my boat. Just gotta keep grinding it out......

We decided to cancel both fishing days this weekend with weather/wind/water levels being the main factor.

We managed to hook up with several muskies over the weekend but only put 2 in the net.....landed a few pike as well. I had another client catch his first musky and his buddy caught his first pike. They were happy campers.....pics up as soon as I get them.

We ended up cancelling last weekend's trips due to cold temps and will likely cancel the upcoming weekend as well. Looks like I may have already launched my boat for the last time in 2013.
