The warmer weather and now rain has really knocked the snow down. Finally it is starting, smelling, and looking like Spring. The ice is still there, yes, but the condition of the ice isn't that great. It is very punky and and getting soft. I've been out here and there catching some jumbo perch and 'gils. Haven't really tried for crappies, however I think my ice days are over for the season.
A short trip to Texas for stripers next week and then the rivers should be ice free and the walleye bite will be on over on the Bay.
I do and still believe the ice will be off most(if not all) lakes by the Wisconsin opener.
Good Luck!
