Hi all,

The annual MI50 spring auction supporting musky fishing in Eastern PA is currently open. This fundraiser will run from April 28th to May 8th, 2014

http://www.mi50.com/

Simply put, this auction is AMAZING. Clearly the biggest and best we have ever put together, the list of bait makers, guides and other lots rivals any auction ever assembled. Through the incredible hard work and dedication by auction organizer, Silvia Spitzer, we have assembled a veritable who’s who of custom baits. This year’s auction has baits and trips donated from:

Johnny Dadson, Dadson Blade Baits
Anthony Ashby, Hot Tail Gliders

In addition, the auction will have baits donated from member private collections from the likes of:

Check often as new items will be added as they are received!

The auction is held each year to help the Penn-Jersey Chapter of Muskies Inc (MI50) raise money to improve the local fishery in South Eastern PA. This is mainly accomplished by purchasing advanced fingerling Muskies (12”-20”) and stocking them into local lakes. Thus far the emphasis has been on Marsh Creek Lake in Chester County where the club has built a viable and flourishing pure bred Musky population. Stocking started in 2005 and we now have fish approaching 45” in the lake. Given the success we have had on this body of water, the club has moved on to other bodies of water while still maintaining the fishery at Marsh Creek. These lakes include Lake Nockamixon, where the club stocked 1200 14-20” Leech Lake advanced yearlings in the fall of 2012, Auburn Dam and Tuscarora Lake. This can only be accomplished by raising as much money as possible through auctions like this, sport show participation, club events such as “guide for a day” and the club’s coop / partnership with Cabela’s and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

All rules are posted on the MI50 site. Remember you must be a registered user to bid on any lots.

Thanks again for your support of the Penn-Jersey Chapter of Muskies Inc. We are truly making a difference for musky anglers in Eastern PA!

I have been so busy lately and just had a chance to check out the auction items this morning and it is over! Not sure if I am happy to still have a few bucks in my pocket or sad that I am not broke. :)

Beautiful looking baits for sure!

I just received an email from Sylvia Spitzer @ MI-50 outlining the results of the auction and the progress with the Advanced Pure Stocking program.

Here it is in a nutshell:

Just wanted to thank you for your generous donation to MI50 Penn/Jersey's Online Fundraising Auction. The fundraiser went great and we met our goal, raising $5,745.00 which will be used to purchase advanced pures for stocking here locally this fall. 1,000 Advanced Pures ranging from 12" to 20" at a cost of $10,000.00 will be purchased and delivered in late Sept. The remainder of the cost of the pures will be raised through our monthly meeting raffles, guide for a day program and The Greater Philadelphia Sports Show.

Also, a little update as to how things have progressed here with the Advanced Pure Stocking Program. We are in year 8 of stocking Marsh Creek Lake. MC is doing very well with pures up to 45" being caught last year. A very good crop of fish from 40" to 45" were caught last year. Pures caught are outproducing Hybrids by a ratio of 3 to 1.

This past fall Lake Nockamixon received it's second year stocking of Advanced Pures, 12" to 18" that we purchased from Gollon's Fish Farm in WI. We should start to hopefully see some 30" pures being caught in 2015. We're really excited about this. Additionally we were able to do some stockings on the Delaware and LeHigh Rivers & Tuscarora Lake, last fall.

In 2013 funds raised through the auction, club raffles, guide for a day program, we were able to rise $10,000 and stock 1,100 advanced pures. Matching our stocking efforts of 2012. Thank you so much for being a big part of this!!
