Well a lot like last season, the ice is still here. Some open water here and there, but nothing that really gets me excited for a quality bite or two. Wednesday and Thursday will bring rain and warmer temperatures, I would expect most lakes other than the biggest ones to be open by Friday.
Fished on Big St last night(between ice and shore), water temp was 44 degrees, actually saw one other boat out, we managed one 18 incher on a X-rap, and missed a couple more. Need about 200' more feet of open water to make it a little more exciting.
Fished the Wisconsin River on the opener and did well compared to most reports....however, all males were boated, and only 2 milked. The others were rock solid, so I think that the migration is just starting up river.
Good Luck!
