I fished with clients John and Joe over the weekend and we caught some nice walleyes but the bass were even more fun. Treelands added a bass division to their tournament and we spent more time bass fishing than walleye fishing. Saturday and Sunday the bass were hitting really good but Sunday was a little tougher. We ended up floating shiners in to the fallen timber to get them on Sunday. Even then, some of the bass would just mouth the shiners and not eat them. Anything artificial just didn't work. Maybe we should have walleye fished more but there were a few really nice walleyes caught so it was going to be tough to beat the walleye leaders. Had a great time as always with John and Joe.
After the tournament Rachel and I went out for a few hours and caught a few bass on topwater and then caught some crappies on crankbaits. Fun way to catch crappie. oh yeah, forgot to say, we caught some huge crappies while bass fishing. They were eating shiners and sucker minnows. Most were around 12 inches. We also saw a bunch of muskies spawning. Nothing big but neat to see. Saw quite a bit of winterkill. Mostly panfish but did see some bass, pike, and one big muskie dead.
