Friday greeted us with yet another high blue sky with very little wind, and of course, bugs. Spending yet another half day with Thursdays guest, Roger, we spent most of our morning working different areas, mostly deep, 15 to 17 feet over mud along with lots of submerged wood. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with either 1/2 crawler or fatheads, we found action at the start to be on the slow side, now this is the same area where the action was so good the morning before. We did boat 2 good keepers here before moving on. We then tried a few areas in 10 feet with hard bottom with nothing but 1 big perch. We then tried another area with 15 to 17 feet of water with similar bottom structure as the first spot we fished and found a real bonanza here. Working this area back and forth for some time, we found several eyes in the 13 to 14 inch range along with others somewhat bigger, here we finished out on our limits, but the bonus part of this area is that we found 7 big jumbo perch along with them. Best bite came on fatheads except for the perch, crawlers worked the best. All the fish cleaned were full of little black crawly critters from the bottom along with one half inch crayfish.
