I fished Friday morning with Rob Keller and we got into the smallmouth bass pretty good. We ended up with around fifty of them with some upper teens being the largest. We cught them on everything from topwater to crankbaits to plastics. They should get going even better this week.
I fished Friday night for walleyes with a group out of Jay Brunners friends and we had a great time dodging rain but ended up catching some fish. The largest was a 27 inch fish along with some good eating sized ones that we forgot about at the end of the night anyway so they got turned loose. Must have been their day.
Yesterday we fished Spider lake in the morning and had action from about fifteen fish with about seven hitting but only boated one. Didn't see anything over forty inches which is rare but still good action. We fished the Chip in the afternoon and it was slow. It slowed down the last hour on Spider also. Must have been a morning bite yesterday.
Back at it this morning on the Chip,
Water temps were low seventies.
