Saturday greeted my two guests and I with fairly strong SE winds, and with my main 80 lb. thrust Minn Kota Vantage down, I was forced to use my old standby 55 lb. thrust and that alone kept us from working several spots as it would not hold the boat in these winds. Despite that, Ron, Mike and I did manage to come up with 7 nice eyes during our morning trip. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with fatheads, we worked mostly bays and shorelines where the waves weren't as bad as out in the open water. The areas that produced the most activity were in 6 to 8 feet of water with a combination of wood and weeds. Tough feeling the bite as the jig coming through the weeds felt the same as a bite, only difference was when the resistance on the end of the line came with you as you reeled in your line, no big smack like one would expect. No difference with the mayflies, some popping up here and there, but no big hatch.
