Hi everyone,
Took Leonard and his son in law Shane fishing for a full day of walleye hunting. Shane is from North Carolina and had never caught a walleye or small mouth bass in his life. That all changed. He caught his first, second, and third ever walleye as well as a couple of small mouth bass.
We started out with hazy sunshine and calm winds. If we weren't fishing, it would have been perfect. But we persisted and managed to scrounge up several walleyes, smallies, perch, and bluegills in the deeper wood cover areas. Only kept the perch, releasing everything else. Caught most fish on the lead-free jigs tipped with leech and some on the slip bobber rig baited with a crappie minnow. Water temps are up to 76-78 degrees now with Summer looking like it finally wants to stick around for awhile. Last week we had Air temps down into the 40's a few times. With Summer here now, it's a great time to come up and enjoy the Northwoods. Good luck fishing everyone.
