Hi everyone,
Guided Brent who has a cabin on Hay Creek, for a full day yesterday. We started out in a light fog rolling off the water under cloudy skies and rather cool temps into a fairly stiff East wind. The walleye fishing in the A.M. was nothing short of fabulous with the both of us dealing with very light biting walleyes catching 17 in the first 4 hours with several over 15" with the biggest a 20" beauty, and missing lots more hits. The crappies and bluegills were also in on the act as we were catching them along side of the walleyes.
In the afternoon the story changed. We could only scrounge up 1 more walleye but still caught crapppies, bluegills and SM. bass. We released every fish we caught as Brent informed me before we started he didn't want to keep any fish but rather learn my system. All fish were caught on lead-free jigs tipped with leeches and minnows. The minnows out produced the leeches. We were to busy to deal with the slip bobber rig having a ton of action on the lead-free jigs working them through some very dense wood cover in 15-20 feet of water. The last two weeks the walleye fishing has been very good. Now's the time to be here to catch MR. walleye. Good luck fishing everyone.
