Hi everyone,
Guided Bill and Aaron for a morning half day yesterday. Air temps were 22 degrees under a crystal clear Blue sky with almost no wind when I picked them up at Tiger Musky resort with a 48 degree water temp. Wisps of fog lifted off the water as we began our journey. With the modern day clothing, we were not adversely affected by the cold but were able to enjoy the scenery with the trees still displaying their brilliant colors. This is the very peak of colors for those of you still wanting to make a trip 'UP NORTH' to take in all Mother Nature has to offer.
Fishing wasn't 'bang bang' but was consistent. We caught and released walleyes, and perch but kept 15 nice crappies for the pan releasing the rest. All fish were caught on PROaggressive jigs tipped with minnows and on the slip bobber rigs also tipped with minnows. We fished the deep wood pattern finding the fish relating tight to cover which was expected with the extreme cold front conditions.
The water level is dropping for the winter draw down. It was almost two feet down now and will get to 5 feet low by Nov. 15. The lowering of the water level has worked wonders for all fish species in the Chippewa Flowage. By controlling the invasive species of weeds, the native weeds came back with a vengeance. This not only helps the walleyes and muskies, but all species. I saw a stronger LGM. and SM. bass fishery and same holds true for the pan fishing. Stay positive and good luck fishing everyone.
