Thursday greeted my guest and I with a light south wind and clear sky's, and also a pretty good bite. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with large fatheads, we started out working submerged stumps and laid down wood in 8 feet of water and found the eyes scattered and on the small side with the exception of one hefty one. We then worked some shallow rocky areas and we boated a good number of smallies, all released and a few jigs bit off by pike. As the cloud cover thickened and the winds picked up, we moved into 4 feet of water with lots of weeds mixed with plenty of wood, we found the walleye, crappie, and pike on a very good bite, but these fish were all caught using slip bobbers with light jigs and 1/2 piece of crawler. Here, we ended up catching several eyes with 5 nice chunky ones along with a half dozen pike, 32 inches was the largest and 7 big crappie.
Next trip on Saturday, will keep you posted.
