What a change in weather from last weeks tee shirt temps, last 4 mornings have seen frost and high temps in the mid to upper 50's during the day. Early morning water temps are in the mid to upper 50's and topping off at 60 to 62 by days end. With this colder weather, the walleye have started their fall migration and are showing up in much deeper water, 17 to 24 feet over rocks has been very productive this week as my guests and I have been having some very good catches despite the NE and ENE winds. Both vertical jigging and casting and retrieving 1/8th ounce Reeves weedless jigs worked equally just as long as you keep your jig & minnow close to the bottom and a slow retrieve, fish are holding tight to the bottom but are on a pretty good bite. Bluegill and crappie action has slowed down some but still worth trying for.
Back out today, tomorrow, and Wednesday, no scheduled trips after that, best fishing yet to come.
