Work up this morning to an unexpected 7 degrees, dead calm, and ice. Looks like it's making ice and the lake is developing pressure cracks. Forecast the next few days is a little colder than originally forecast, so hoping the ice is here until May. Warms up a bit next week, so who knows.

You're a little land locked now then right? So do you take a few days off or is it right into getting the ice houses ready?

I might have spoke a little too soon. Now that the sun is up a little higher, looks like Sturgeon Channel could be still open. With some wind, may kill the ice that was made last night.

For me, no factor this season. The fish were pretty fickle this year, and when only running two lines, pretty hard to pull off a Jake when they are working. I know Darren's buddies had a pretty good couple of days with them. But a very short couple of days. Don't think I was fishing those days.
Love the lure. Dives like a mo-fo. Runs close to the boat so easy to track. Big, wide wobble. And extremely buoyant, so bobs to the surface like a submarine.
Overall, a winner. Except the cost. But then they grow in trees. Just ask Mark Larsen.......
