I was out on "The Rock" this morning with Larry from Rockford. We put on at the Turtle and headed out to the channel. When we first got out the sun was shining, but that didn't last long before the clouds moved in. We both tried the top of the breaks in 14-16 feet of water with only a couple of short "eyes" to show for it. I moved a few feet to 17-19 feet and had a big blue gill and a crappie within two minutes so I called Larry over and drilled him some holes a few feet away. We had plenty of action with lookers and biters until about 11 am, then it slowed down a lot. I left a little after noon with 5 crappies, and 4 big blue gills, the biggest gill at 9 1/2 inches, and the shortest at 8 1/4. Larry had 4 crappies and 1 nice perch up until that time. The ice at the access sites is getting a little iffy. With the warm temps for the next few days I would be very careful. We had 18 inches where we were, but it is open along the shoreline in a lot of places.

Keep a tight line!!!
