Wow, what an opener, after a near 90 degree on Friday, we were greeted with a big cold front with fairly strong north winds and jam packed boat landings. Weaving in and out of boat traffic all day long, my 4 guests and I poked around in all different depths and structures and come up with a fairly decent catch using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with large fatheads. Shallow water ( 7ft ) produced some nice crappie along with some big rock bass and two keeper eyes. The rest of the day was spent working deep river channels and this paid off as we boated another 14 eyes, 9 of which were good keeper eyes. Fish were holding tight to the bottom and a very slow retrieve was the ticket.
