Monday morning greeted my guest and I with a light ESE breeze and mid 40 temps but it heated up very quickly as the walleye and smallies were on a feeding frenzy. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with large fatheads, we found action right off the bat in 6 to 7 foot of water over submerged wood and scattered stumps. Retrieving just fast enough to keep your jigs off the bottom was all it took to lure these fish to your bait and wham. We lost count on how many eyes we caught and also on the small mouth. Some of the smallies were right in with the eyes, but the majority of them came working 3 to 5 feet of water around the shorelines. Good quality eyes yesterday, 16 to 20 inchers in the well and the majority of the bass were in the 13 to 15 inch bracket with a few in the 17 inch range, just an action packed day.
