TFF Update

Sunday greeted my two guests and I to yet another day with clear blue sky's and light and variable winds. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with either 1/2 crawler or large fatheads, we started out in 12 foot depths with wood and found just 1 jumbo perch. Moving to similar areas, we found just 1 walleye and 1 small perch. After working weed patches and a couple of humps with no luck, we made a move to shallow water in and around scattered weeds and timber and this move paid off big time. Hard to believe that during the warmest time of the day in almost calm water that not only walleye, but smallmouth bass and jumbo perch were in the same pocket at the same time. Working this small pocket, not much more than 30 feet in width for some time, we ended up with 5 more keeper eyes, 6 smallies under 14 inches and 1 over 18 not to mention 4 more, including a largemouth in the slot size that were tossed back, we also boated 3 nice jumbo perch in the mix. Most all the fish were taken on crawlers.
