I had a split trip booked for this morning on "Pete". Larry and Herbie took the early set starting at 6 am. We headed to the south end to do some jigging a soak dead rods. The algae was so heavy along the break that it dragged your bait near the surface in 20 feet of water as we moved along slowly with the bow mount. Had a couple shorties there then moved north to try and get away from the "Pea Soup". It was a little better near Longview Point but only had some shorties there as well. Put the boards in the water to troll and before lone we were right in the thick blue'green sludge. It was time to pickup the second half couple so we headed in. On the second trip we ran to the north end to troll to get away from the soup. The Sheep's Head were every where. Moved to a spot in the river , and the same results. You could not keep the "goats" off the baits. Finished the day with 7 "shorties", 1 crappie, 1 white bass, and 14 Sheep's Head. There is another big bug hatch going on right now. The surface is covered with hulls on the north end and up the river.:(
Keep a tight line!!!
