Tuesdays half day trip started out on the slow side but increased as the morning moved on. Starting out in 12 feet of water over wood, my guest and I found a couple of keeper eyes on Reeves weedless jigs tipped with 1/2 crawler. After working these spots for some time with no more action we moved on to try some wind blown shorelines with weeds and wood mix and this proved to be a good choice for us. These areas held a decent amount of eyes along with a good amount of smallmouth. For the most part, the eyes were relating to the outside edges of the weeds while the smallies were holding in slightly deeper water. Most of the smallies were caught by holding your bait motionless a foot off the bottom. We ended our morning trip[ with a total of 8 eyes caught, 5 keepers, and 5 smallies with 1 being in the slot size. On a different note, what we found in the live well kind of explains the slow bite as of late, many 1 inch perch were spit up by the eyes and bass, stomachs of the cleaned fish all contained many of these young of the year perch, you can easily see the clouds of these baby perch on your locators, happens every year.
