Tom and son Austin are having a father/son get-a-way for a few day on Castle Rock and wanted to do a little fishing with me this morning. A really nice morning when we launched a 6 am, but by mid-morning when the sun popped out with no wind to speak of it got hot fast. We jigged and soaked dead rods in timber on the old river channel edges in two locations, and on a series if humps. We finished with well over 20 "shorties", 3 slab crappies, and 1 catfish. The fish were short-hitting today. Just grabbing the minnow and holding on so when you set the hook it pulled the minnow off. We had some that came back with only half a minnow. If we could had hooked half of the lost bites we could have doubled our catch total for sure. :( I have Monday the 15th through Friday the 19th open if you would like to get out.
