Being that the walleye action has been on the slow side, the last several days has been spent working deep brush piles, stumps, and cribs in search of big crappies and gills. For the most part, my guests and I have been using 1/32nd ounce jigs tipped with a two inch piece of crawler for the gills and the same jig tipped with a 1 inch white Mister Twister, or Pink and White Mini Mites for the crappie. Action has been good to very good during the last several days as big slab crappie and palm sized gills have made many anglers very happy going in with their limits of future fish fry's.
Out today with my son for slab crappie of our own, back out again on Monday, will keep you posted.
