Pat booked an afternoon trip for Friday to try for some crappies. We launched at Chester's and went out to the channel and down around Brown's Creek and soaked dead rods, and pitched 1/8 ounce jigs. Water temperature reached 58 by the end of the trip. A lot of current in the river. Jesse posted that there are 2 gates open at Nekoosa and looks like it is still coming over the dam as well. As of 6:30 this morning the head water level is less than a foot from being at summer target levels. That's up 8 inches from when I launched on Friday. Pat and I finished the trip with 7 crappies, 4 white bass, 12 short walleyes, 4 large mouth bass, and 1 small mouth.
