Jason, his daughter Lauren, and family friend Eric booked a morning trip on "Pete" for Saturday. Jason fished mostly musky on the system and wanted to try some different presentations for walleyes on the lake. We started the morning working jigs and dead rods along channel edges. We caught a ton of "shorties" and 1 "keeper" doing this. Lauren is 9 years old and handles a jig rod and 9' noodle rod as good as many adults. We then set-up to do some trolling. The bigger walleyes were hiding, but the "shorties", perch, white bass, and muskies were very active. Jason taught his daughter well on how to handle a rod, and proper techniques for the releasing fish back into the system. It was a real treat having a person her age be so knowledgeable about this sport.
