Tom and his son Austin are camping on a Father/Son get-way at Petenwell Park and phoned me for a Tuesday trip. They were out with me last August on Castle Rock. We left the ramp at 6 am and headed to a hump on a channel edge to the west. The wind was blowing really hard and had to ride out some big swells and white caps to get there. We set up to jig and soak dead rods with large fat-heads and it was hard to hold a spot-lock with the bow mount with the waves and swells. Some of the time the 60 inch shaft would not stay in the water. We did manage 1 "keeper" and lost one at boat side, 1 in the slot, and bunch of "shorties", some big white bass, sheep's head, and cats. They have never trolled with planer boards so about 9 am we headed for the south end to troll along the dyke. With the stiff west winds it was a little bit of a damp ride going side-ways into the waves. Austin got a little damp, but I told him I don't charge extra for showers, although I don't supply towels. By the time I had 8 lines in the water the winds started to really die. By 10 o'clock the winds were almost non existent, and the algae was really starting to get thick. We boated another "keeper", and slot fish, along wit more White Bass, sheep's head, and cats. When we headed back to the park a little after 11 to clean their fish the lake was like a piece of glass and it was getting hot.
