Red Childress

We chased Esox yesterday with 2 of us going traditional and 1 guy chucking flies. We did not see anything until 11:18 when a 43-45" musky ate my bait. To save time and trouble, I successfully shook her off at boatside. We had fished thru thick fog for several hours and I kinda figured (based on the forecast) if we connected, it would be before the sunny blue skies appeared. Then around 3, the fly rod had a smallish follow from a pike and that was it for the day.
Surface temps climbed from 66 the week before to 71 at the end of the day yesterday.
We also had a few encounters with some very rude boaters who came way too close to us. I suppose their fishing tournament was more important than showing the rest of us some common courtesy.
No fishing today as yardwork and kids' stuff takes precedent.
Good luck!
