I saw where st croix is making 3 different models this year in 10' length.
That will help with the figure 8
I was reading the lengthy post on the "8" and it reminded me of the rods.
I mean who doesn't want a longer rod!

I had been requesting 10-footers (in a 2-piece or telescopic configuration) for a few years now. Great to hear it is going to happen.
Do you know if they are 1 or 2 pieces?

LOL I initially had mixed feelings about about the 10 footers since its already pretty tough to get a good solid hook set on a flyrod when a fish hits at the boat. However, I do think I'd have to give them a try at some point. All the other possible benefits may outweigh the one or two tough areas.
Frank,
I'm guessing that the 10' could help with the trolling setup too, right? Maybe easier to keep the lines away from each other?

Jay,
Frank has 10 ft. glass trolling rods already.........just not St. Croix's. The new line-up could be used for trolling but most folks will stick with a less expensive rod to beat the hell out of. :)
The tip section of the LT models will be less wimpy than a 10wt. fly rod. Hook setting should not be problematic.

Good info, thanks Red.
Honestly, my hooking percentage at the boat has gone up a bit over the last couple years. I have been trying to set the hook back into the fish when possible and hope for the best. And you're right, that wimpy tip section on the Flyrods can make it tough. I'll be curious to see how manufacturers refine their designs for some of the next generation flyrods.

3 different actions and 3 different prices for the new 10ft. LT models.
