Crappie shallow, in warm water. Yesterday. 5-7-18
Fishing a small tributary lake connected to a larger lake is where these fish came from. In fact they were right on the shoreline in 1 – 1/2 ft to 3 ft of water and the water temp was 62 degrees. Yes, there are several lakes like this right now producing shallow Crappie even though some bigger lakes are still ice covered.
This small 100 acre lake in particular has water running thru both ends of the lake and has a maximum depth of 18 ft. We actually left the small lake and went back into the larger lake to clean a few fish due to the fact the small lake had no wind due to its size and it was just to hot and we were over dressed.
Yesterday was a sunny warm day as the last 2 weeks have been but, that is over. Our fish all came on minnows, light hooks and light line. The clouds have rolled in and the wind is from the north west and the temps are rapidly dropping. We are forecast for rain from now and tomorrow.
Friday’s high temp that is as of now forecast, is to be 54, as now forecast.
As always, stay positive, think clearly and do not listen to negative talk and do not listen to negative people.
God Bless
