The majority of the rod time was spent inshore this week due to a significant northwesterly blow. The salmon fishery was fair in Barkley Sound with days of 3-10 chinooks between 10-18lbs. Bring your patience and expect to pick through a large volume of shakers from Cree Island all the way to Swale Rock. The better sized fish are in amongst the shakers. Bide your time and keep the belief that they will bite and you will be rewarded.
The last couple days have seen the wind subside and the fleet has ventures out offshore. Big bank is produced some fish but by far the best quality and quantity has come from the outside light and southwest corner. Chinooks between 14 and 18 lb have been taken in volume over the last couple days. Spoons fished between 120-170 feet have been the go-to producer.
The halibut fishery has been consistent at big Bank. Steady volume of 10 to 30lb halibut are biting the salmon bellies with most of the catch effort concentrated at Hali West.
Until next week, tight lines
