Mike from Joliet, IL and his father-in-law Neal from Milton, WI joined me for a trip on "The Rock" this morning. Strong W/NW winds greeted us at the ramp at 6 am. We headed to a channel edge south of the island where the waves weren't as challenging. We soaked dead rods and jigged with magnum fat-heads and crawlers around submerged wood in 16-18 feet of water. Mike boated his personal best walleye at 24 1/2". The bite was best earlier in the morning, and died as the sun started to peek out from behind the cloud cover. Besides Mike's 24 1/2, we also had 1 "keeper", a bunch of "shorties", some really nice white bass up to 12", cats, and the usual sheep's head. With the cool down over the past couple of days, the water temperature dropped back to the low 70's.
