I had four trips on the book for this week including:
Monday 8/19: Pat booked a morning trip on Castle Rock, along with her Husband Jim, and friend Steve. They were interested in finding some locations to put in their gps for future reference. We jigged and soaked dead rods in four different spots, and boated a couple "keepers", a bunch of "shorties", 1 nice crappie, some catfish, and white bass.
Wednesday 8/21: Today Wayne and Joan Joined me on "Pete" for a morning outing. We used dead rods tipped with chubs and leeches, and jigged as well. We fished two different spots and finished with 3 nice "Keepers", and kept one big white bass so they could have a couple of nice meals. We also had a lot of "shorties", and small white bass, and catfish.
Thursday 8/22: Rich can up from Near St Louis for a few days and want to get out for a few hours. We launched at the County Park on Petenwell about 6 am and headed south to fish the buoy line. What a mess! Zero wind, big mats of algae, and the lake flies were the worst I have ever seed. The two of us and the boat was covered. It was a very early morning bite. We boated three nice keepers until a school of 6" white bass moved in and the walleyes just turned off. Moved to another spot neat Wilderness and there was no bugs at all. Trolled for a short time with only the small white bass, and a few "shorties before we headed in so he could get on the road for home.
Friday 8/23: Got out on "Pete" this morning with Dan and his son Mac. Dan said Mac does not get a chance to do much fishing on open water and he was hoping we could get him on some action. We fished a break in 18-21 feet of water with dead rods baited with large minnows, and jigged with minnows and half of a crawler. Dead rods were by far the ticket today. We kept Mac busy with 8"keepers", about 20 "shorties", catfish, and of course, white bass.
Keep a tight line!!!
