Most lakes around here are froze over, only the biggest lakes still have some open water. I drove by Shell Lake today and it still has a large open spot out in the center. On the smaller lakes there is 3 to 5 inches of ice. Early ice fishermen have been catching bluegills in the shallows, mornings have been best. Walleyes are bitting at dusk on tip ups and shiners, again the best action has been shallower.
