Ice conditions are improving in the Eagle River area, but caution and common
sense are definitely required. Don't go out alone. Note that this week's
report recommends fishing in 15 feet of water or less. That's because the
ice becomes unsafe after you reach the first break edge. Don't forget that!
Using one of the Eagle River area's top-flight licensed guides is always a
good idea. You'll get some great fishing, and be safe on the ice.
Northern action in the Eagle River area is good to excellent, with a mixed
bag on sizes. Fish 15 feet of water or less in and around the weeds., using
large shiners under tip-ups, or jig with larger spoons.
Perch action is good to excellent in the Eagle River area. Fish 15 feet of
water in and around the weeds. Use a small tear drop jig in bright orange
or chartreuse. Waxies, spikes and crappie minnows are all working.
The walleye bite in the Eagle River area is good. Fish 15 feet of water or
less over hardbottom areas in front of weeds. Use a tip-up with a walleye
sucker or medium shiner, or jig with a spoon tipped with a fathead minnow.
