Sorry for the lapse in reports, but things have been busy.
Ice conditions were great until we got this batch of wet heavy snow(great for the trails, though). I've been out the last couple of days and have seen the lakes go from dry to very slushy. Ice depths range from 6" to up to 12" inches on the flowages.
Walleyes are biting good on shiners and suckers. There is currently a deep water and shallow water bite happening. Look for mouths of bays that contain green weeds, and fish the edges. Deep gravel and sand is also producing.
I personally haven't fished panfish, but I've heard of some good catches in the last couple of weeks.
Pike are active in weedy bays and also on some of the deep hard bottom areas.
The snowmobile trails are scheduled to open tomorrow. Things should be good.
Yesterday it was 34 degrees and a beautiful day for fishing.....currently it is 2 below and gusts to 30 MPH....oh, I know why, Gillespie is on the way....well I guess part of the show will be just surviving the conditions.
Here's a couple pics from yesterdays catch.
