The good news is with the way the weather has been with the rain and a bit of warm up, we have lost alot of the snow on the ice that is on the lakes! Now we hopefully will see some cool off and make more ice on the lakes!
Lake Mendota Bluegill fishermen have been struggling with some activity the last hour of the day on Univ. Bay. Ice out in Univ. Bay is reported to be approx. 5". Pike fishermen have been having some success especially on Northerns in the 20-30" class, and sometimes a bigger fish. Try Warner Bay, along the Univ. shoreline, over by Stoney Point and Spring Harbor, or Northshore Bay. Cherokee Marsh has been producing mostly smaller panfish recently. Monona Bay ice is approx. 8" plus range, with action continuing to be good on Bluegills and some Crappies. Expect to sort out alot of small fish. Squaw Bay on Lake Monona panfishing has been spotty. Lake Waubesa ice reports are approx. 5-8". Bluegill reports continue to be spotty, with Goodland Park being a good place to go. We have heard rumors of Perch and Bluegills being caught on Lake Kegonsa, but no details. There have been reports of some Bluegills being caught on Crystal Lake.
