Plow'n the field don't put your tractor away
From what I gather, you get a free hat with the purchase
Only problem I see, in today's world, all the parts will be from China and it would last about a couple of hours
ohh yeah, take heed, treat your ass properly

With today's power to weight ratios you could probably make it amphibious for those individuals living on islands and such. Pretty cool video, other than not having any sound. Where's the Charlie Chaplin piano music? It must not have been as cheap to produce as treads were, which is no surprise, otherwise there would probably some version of this design still in regular use. Although now that I think about it tank treads move through static friction, where as these screw drives would be in kinetic and therefore much less efficient I imagine. Still probably a place for them somewhere, especially with today's material possibilities. I'm sure the biggest issue would be the ribs, so you'd have to section them and make them available in different heights and be easily replaceable. Sounds like a fun senior design project, so maybe in a couple years I'll have them all over the market. Should be pretty easy with the economic prospects that we have today.

If I'm not mistaken, I saw a small excavator mounted on a similar drive mechanism, that was designed to operate in extreme swamps. Think it had more aggressive auger that this snow one does.
