It is currently 43 degrees. Ice conditions are great, however trails are taking a beating. A quick 6 or 8 inches of snow will definitely brings things back to life.
24 to 30 inches of ice cover most lakes, and travel is very good. Walleye remain OK, with most fish using deep rocks on the clear lakes. Evenings and 1 hour after dark remain the best time. Shiners and suckers under tip ups are doing the trick.
Panfish are starting to show up in large weed flats. Obviously the best time for these guys is yet to come.
Pike are using the deep rocks too, but also remain shallow if the weeds are green. Had a group out the other day, and we had 25+ fish in 6 hours over a weed flat in 7 to 10 feet of water.
Good Luck!
