Headed out to the 11th largest freshwater lake in the world with my Dad for a short trip this morning. We met up with a small group and headed out to see if we could find a couple walleye kicking around.
The action wasn't fast and furious, but we got 9 between us in about 4 hours. I can't believe how much ice that lake has every year. The 12" extension was barely enough to beak through, that puts the ice somewhere between 4.5 - 5' thick. Driving around with a truck was clearly not a problem!
We didn't pull any monsters through the ice, but we caught a couple decent ones in the low 20" class. The fish were very fussy, and it was quite a game convincing them to bite once they appeared on the Vexilar, but we caught fish on Buckshot Rattle Spoons, Eye Dropper Jigs, and Thumper Jigs. Didn't really seem to be a pattern other than to be persistent when the fish would show up on the flasher.

And this is why we locally call these walleye "Greenbacks"!
