BDNGLSF Perch derby and spring meeting

The Bay de Noc Great Lakes Sport Fishing club will be holding their annual spring Perch Derby on Saturday, May 9th. Fishing will be between 9am and 3pm. Boat inspection, rules meeting and weigh-in will take place at the Gladstone harbor. Entry fee is $60 per team. Prizes for largest fish and best catch (10 largest fish per boat.) Minimum of 2 people per team, up to max rating of the boat (bring the kids!) All contestants must be members of BDNGLSF (kids under 16 have free membership.) Door prizes, 50/50 raffle, and fish fry will follow the weigh-in. Entry forms will be available at Bay View Bait and Tackle, Bayshore Resort, and Sall-mar Resort. Only a few of us have signed up to fish the derby so far, (can't blame anyone for not wanting to fish in the weather forecast for Saturday.) We'll be at the launch in the morning and make the call to fish, postpone, of just plain call it off, then.

Only three paid teams, and a couple "maybes" showed up this morning. We decided to call it off due to weather. Talked about postponing it till tomorrow (Mother's Day.) Not an option! Also considered re-scheduling it for the May 30th, but one of the teams already had plans for that weekend. Kind of hard to get people pumped for perch during the first part of the walleye season, too. Looks like the clubs perch derby is a "no go" for this year. Thanks to everyone that did show up this morning.
