Just finished a few days of guiding for walleye and I'm happy to say the bite is on. We fished Lac Vieux Desert, North and South Twin and the Eagle Chain. A 1/8th to 1/16 oz. jig and extra large fathead is the ticket. All of the lakes mentioned had weed action going, with the Twins having fish still holding near the spawning grounds.
On the other two lakes, besides catching walleye you can expect to get many bonus fish in the way of northern pike,(we caught some nice size ones), crappie, perch and an occasional musky.
If you can get away, this is a very good time to bend the rod.
Our annual Weeds N' Walleye Fishing School is starting this Wednesday through Saturday and it should be excellent fishing.
