Rising water is the story here on Cave Run with levels over 9 feet above summer pool and still rising. The odd thing is the fish are still moving very well. Water temps still low in the mid 60's and the water has murked up in some spots and feeder creeks and the Licking River are muddy. Most all parking lots at ramps are covered with high water, but some high water ramps are open. Muskies have been very good this past week, trollers have taken GREAT numbers of fish over the flooded weeds. Mountain Muskie Guide Lance Seasor had several 5 fish days this week and Scott had a very good week as well catching over a dozen and coming in contact with some big fish. I haven't been out much this week getting things done before my departure up north in just a few weeks but didn't catch 3 quality muskies on top waters in the evenings. Rubber, blades and top waters are best for casting and short line trolling smaller baits have been effective but the big fish of the week for Jerry Wilson came deeper on a Believer. Today they are going to start pulling the lake hopefully the rain will finally will leave us alone. In just the last 2 weeks guest and guides of Mountain Muskie lodge have landed over 50 muskies with 8 over 45 inches.....However I think the best is yet to come as the water temps reach the 70's mark....
