Just posting an update here.
Water temps are slowing rising throughout Vilas County. Lakes are holding steady at the low fifties, with the largest ones still in the upper fourties. Sure, some shallow bays and sun drenched calm areas might be in the upper 60's, but this is what I am finding.
Weed growth is going to be very important here in the next couple of weeks. The slightest amount of new growth will hold walleyes right now. Watch for this to happen on the north ends of lakes and in bays off of the main lake. Wood cover will also be holding fish.
Slip bobbers, the lightest jigs that you can get away with, and during the evening(crankbaits) will take walleyes.
Bass are starting to use the shallows. They are far from spawning(couple weeks), but very aggressive from the reports I've heard from guys are our resort.
Crappies are in and out of the shallows as each day is different weather wise. Frizzies and Mini-Mites are and will out fish live bait 10 to 1.
Good Luck!
