Hi,
Was wondering if anyone can help me out with some good fishing spots for the poor guy with no boat:(. I fish the dam you see on your way to Gladstone,i get go smallmouth there and long ago walleye but havent see any good ones there in years. The mouth of the ford river isnt to bad either. You walk past the launch on the trail to the rock ledge. in there someplace i catch a few good smallies too.I would really like to find some perch, walleye and smallmouth spots.

As far as perch go, your two best shore fishing spots would be the Municipal dock in Escanaba (north wind,) and the fishing pier at the mouth of the Gladstone harbor (south wind.)

You can catch good numbers of bass and walleyes where you mentioned on the Escanaba River. Also try the fishing platforms near the boat launch at the mouth of the river. If you fish up near the dam, having a pair of waders or hip boots will open up a lot water to fish between the dam and highway bridge. Use shallow running floating lures (original Rapalas or Mann's Baby 1- crankbaits,) or topwater lures, to stay out of the rocks if you are stuck on shore. Stop by the shop if you get a chance, and I can give you a few more pointers. I used to catch a lot of bass and walleyes wading around the dam before I got my boat.

Good luck this opener.
