Does the word "northern" in quotes imply that he wasn't really fishing for northern ? Say, with a 9 foot rod, high performance bait casting reel and 80 pound braid ?

I talked to him yesterday. They were fishing in Crane Lake for pike. Probably pre-fishing for the pike tournament that was this last weekend.
