Fishing's been good around Washburn and Sawyer Counties this past week. Crappies are moving shallow in good numbers to spawn. Look for any wood, i.e., fallen trees, brush, ect. in shallow water along shore and you should find crappies. Jigs and small minnows or small bobber rigs are about all you need to catch them.
Walleyes are going good, newly developing weeds and jigs and minnows are the game right now on the lakes I fish. There have been a few days that Gulp Grubs have out produced live bait, I suggest having both along whenever you go out.
Smallmouth bass are in the shallows too. Gravel and wood shorelines are great spots to find smallies getting ready to spawn. Catch and release is vital to maintain this great fishing option here in the northland.
Good Luck and Good Fishing,
Jim Stroede
