The Wisconsin Muskie Tour™ (WMT) season opener was a challenge between the anglers and the elements, with the high winds making it very difficult for all of the competing teams to fish effectively. However, the full field of competitors were able to register fifteen muskies for the "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™. The Lake Pewaukee "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ tournament paid out the full amount, with paying out $10,000.00 for first place.
The first muskie of the event would be tallied by Paul Meier and Rick Busalacchi at 6:57AM that measured in at 36 inches. Shortly after, Don and Doug Grant would take over first place with a 42.5 incher at 7:22AM. The lead would change hands for the third time when Joel Walczak and Andy Gradecki scored on a very hefty 43 1/4" muskie at 9:38AM. At 9:51AM, Scot Lewandowski and Marcus Malyuk landed a 36.75 incher but the duo wasn't finished, by 10:32AM the team was done for the day with their second muskie of 37 inches, earning the team a first place finish. Steve Miljat and Connie Richards would land a first place finish with a 41" muskie at 1:10PM. The biggest muskie of the competition would be captured by Mark Gillich and Joey Rozanski with a 44.5 inch beauty at 2:37PM.
Other teams that registered muskies during the WMT's Lake Pewaukee tournament were: Gary Mueller & Mike Cloninger 36" at 8:33AM, Gene Scherf & Mike Koepp 36.25" at 8:42AM, Bob & David Ziolkowski 34.25" at 8:44AM, Keith & Brian Maciaszek 38.5 at 10:07AM, Dan Busch & Troy Woodrow 37" at 12:41PM, George & Patrick Kingsland 37.5" at 12:51PM, Chris Ceccato & Mike Deering 38" at 1:29AM, Jim & Lynne Dembiec 3:04PM.
The WMT's Lake Pewaukee "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ top five finishers were:
1st - Scott Lewandowski/Marcus Malyuk
2nd - Mark Gillich/Joey Rozanski
3rd - Joel Walczak/Andy Gradecki
4th - Don & Doug Grant
5th - Steve Miljat/Connie Richards
The Wisconsin Muskie Tour™ (WMT) second event of the season was held on Lake Okauchee on Sunday, May 17th. A cold front that dropped the temperatures by thirty degrees from the previous night, slowed the activity level of the muskies that proved to be very difficult for the competing anglers to overcome. There would be only one muskie to be registered for the Lake Okauchee "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ qualifier.
The first, and only muskie to be registered during the tough conditions of the day, would be from the team of Kevin Mahlberg and Joel Michel when they scored a 34 incher at 1:55PM on a top-water, walk the dog, style bait. The winning muskie would be the only muskie the duo would see on the day.
The WMT"s Lake Okauchee "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ top five finishers were:
1st - Joel Michel/Kevin Mahlberg
2nd - John Myatt/Clay Heller
3rd - Ryan & Ron Meyer
4th - George & Patrick Kingsland
5th - Brad Jorgensen/Dean Rodiczak
