Opening weekend consisted of pretty good action in my boat. In the first three days of the season we managed to put 2 34" Muskies in the boat, hooked and lost 2 others, and had 15 follows. I chose to fish some smaller stained lakes looking for the warmest water I could find. We had good luck fishing the new shallow weed growth early in the day, and found fish relating to steep breaks on the windblown shorelines during the middle of the day. 6" twitch baits and slow moving swimbaits attracted the majority of the fish. Most of the fish ranged from 32-38" with one fish in the mid to upper 40 inch range that we had follow a swimbait out over open water. A warming trend toward the end of the week should make this weekend another good one for Musky fishing. Good Luck!
