I know I'm about 2 weeks early, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried Fairport yet? My first trip of the year is typically the weekend closest to the 13th of June (my Dad's bday) and usually we do pretty well. I'm hoping the warmer spring weather this year will get em biting earlier than normal. Has anyone given it a try yet or head any reports?

What warmer spring weather?
We had a couple people say they might give it a try this weekend, but haven't heard anything back, yet.

Warmer spring weather??? We were down to 28 degrees last night. This is one of the coldest springs I've ever seen...

I guess I don't stay up at night watching the thermometer. It seemed to me to be a much warmer spring than the past couple of years. Also, the water temperature seems to be warmer right now than it has been compared to years past. Maybe I'm wrong? Regardless, has anyone caught any salmon in Fairport? I've got the bug.
I talked to Ranger at Garden Sport Shop and he reported some salmon showing up in the nets.

You should be seeing them any day now as they have been in the northern lower for 2-3 weeks now...Alot of fish in the 16 to 18 lb range already and even some 20's boated. We've caught over 80 salmon in the last 2 weeks and the majority were from 12 to 18 lbs...A great start to the salmon season...

I better get my chores done so I can get down there for you to show me how it's done!! This Fed job sure gives me enough time to get everything done, but it hasn't fixed my procrastination!! It'll probably be like the old days on Portage when I thought the only reason you brought me was to net YOUR fish, cuz I couldn't catch one if you threw it at me!!Have the browns given up already?

No the browns are still here but the alewives are so thick it's hard to compete with millions of natural fish and the seagulls. Last trip out we ended the trip after hooking 3 seagulls in the pierheads. I guess our choice of baits were good since the seagulls couldn't tell them apart from the bait fish. Let me tell you when you see you planer board take off 50 feet in the air it's quite disturbing and drove me out of the harbor to chase Kings....And boy are they here..
