lake Erie continues to heat up with good fishing being reported from Colchester to Leamington. Most of course are unning crawler harnesses in a variety of colors but for me the Northland baitfish image blades have been working very well. The Perch or Rainbow pattern have been my hottest to colors. Some are unning jets with small spoons and others are catching walleyes with cranks. The have been a number of big fish caught this season with a lot of fish in the 24-28" range.
The Detroit River is still giving up limits of walleyes too. St Rose bay to the Casino have been hot spots. I have been using Big Bite Baits bio minnow in smelt pattern with different jig colors because of water clarity. Goby, blk-silver and the Jigman's "Pickle" have been working well.
This Sat June 6 marks the opening of musky season and it looks like things are rebounding well after a the VHS virus did its damage a few yrs back. Some good signs of small fish being caught last yr and some incidentals this yr is good news for musky hunters.
The catch and release season of bass on the Michigan side of Lake St Clair is in full swing with lots of fish being caught. Tubes and cranks have been doing it for the bass guys.
This wknd marks our 3rd annual Mens Retreat to Pelee Island and the timing should be perfect again. www.mensfishingretreat.com
