As Matt reported the cool weather has made us work for fish. Been on the hunt for bass the past few days. Numbers of fish was down but the quality of fish caught was pretty good. Nice bass both largemouth and smallmouth caught ranging in the 17-19 inch size. Even managed to have a client catch a pretty nice pike.
Most smallmouth moved off the shallows onto the primary breaks. I was able to get these fish to go after deeper running crankbaits like Shad Raps. Largemouth were in shallower water and hit on Mepps Aglia spinners in size 4 and spinnerbaits. Managed to get a few bonus nice sized perch and crappies while targeting the bass.
Here are a couple photos of Justin Nitz with almost bookend bass. One largemouth and one smallie that both measured right at 18".
